Piece of Cake Learning was started by an educational specialist with the goal of creating products that reinforce learning concepts in a fun way. The cards can be used in several ways. First, students can use them to play memory in an independent center. Each card has a small picture of its mate in the lower right hand corner so that a student can self correct. Students can also play games like "go fish" in pairs or groups of 3 or 4 with all of the sets. Again, they are self correcting so students will know if they have the correct match. Some of the decks can be used to play "war" when there are specific amounts that students can compare. Some decks, like the money and one-to-one correspondence decks can be used to play all 3 games. Teachers can use the decks for a warm up before a lesson, as an independent center, or as a choice time activity. These decks are also great for parents to practice with students at home. Because they are designed to be used like the popular children's card games of "go fish" and "war" and "memory" they are a fun way for parents to interact with children all the while reinforcing and strengthening number concepts and mathematics vocabulary.
